Putting the best possible face on Medicare proposals

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Republicans are looking for ways to explain their approach to Medicare and Medicaid.
It's not like the heat Democrats took two summers ago at town hall meetings when they pushed health care reform.
But some Republicans who've been meeting with constituents are being sharply criticized for the plan the GOP pushed through the House. It calls for changes to medicare and medicaid as part of their plan to improve the nation's finances.
Republicans from house budget committee chairman Paul Ryan on down have come under fire in the past week.
How best to discuss the divisive issue with constituents is the subject of a long-scheduled conference call among Republican lawmakers today.
