(WKYT) - The Red Cross has created a central website to allow people in disaster areas in the United States to register their current status, and for people concerned about their loved ones to access that information.
The site is called The American Red Cross Safe and Well website, and is intended to act as a registry for people to find each other during a disaster.
If a person is currently in an area affected by a disaster, such as at the moment in Boston following the bomb explosions at the marathon, they can log onto the site and select messages to send to loved ones if they are contacted.
If you have a loved one in an affected area, you can search for people who have registered and enter their information.
Safe and Well is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is accessible in both English and Spanish.
