NEW YORK, Ny. (WKYT/AP) - Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is asking gun owners to please not bring weapons into his coffee shops.
The retailer isn't banning guns in its restaurants, but now says it would prefer its customers come in unarmed.
Last month, a group of gun owners announced plans online for a Starbucks Appreciation Day. In response, the Newtown Coalition for Corporate Responsibility published an open letter, calling on Schultz to ban guns in the stores.
The CEO also said his personal views on guns did not factor into the policy change. Schultz said it's about the Starbucks coffee company and the customers.
