Tax bill set to pass Senate

WASHINGTON (AP) - A final Senate vote is expected today on the tax package that would spare every taxpayer from a significant increase in January.

President Barack Obama is urging Congress to pass it quickly, calling it "a win for middle-class families and a win for our economy."

The House could take up the bill today or tomorrow.

House Democrats are considering possible changes, including a higher estate tax, but even critics of the compromise think it'll pass the way it is.
