DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - The NCAA men's basketball tournament is down to 64 teams, and now it's time for two full days of madness. Virginia Commonwealth and Texas-San Antonio are moving into the 64-team field that begins play today with 16 games.
Virginia Commonwealth rallied in the second half to beat Southern California 59-46 behind Jamie Skeen's 16 points and 10 rebounds. VCU held Southern California just one field goal over the final 9 minutes. The Rams now do a quick Dayton-To-Chicago shuttle to play sixth-seed Georgetown on Friday in Chicago.
Texas-San Antonio walloped Alabama State 70-61 in Dayton. Melvin Johnson III hit for a career-high 29. The Roadrunners led all the way against the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament champs. Texas-San Antonio moves on to play Ohio State, the top overall seed, in the East Regional second round on Friday in Cleveland.
