Police officers punched while trying to break up fight in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Investigators say two Lexington Police officers were punched while trying to break up a street fight Thursday night.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. on Chantilly Street, in the Cardinal Valley neighborhood.

Police say they received a call that a woman was being assaulted. When they arrived, they say there were up to eight people fighting in the street.

When police tried to break up the fight, they say two of the men involved in the fight began hitting two police officers.

Police say the officers were punched a couple of times in the face, but they are expected to be okay.

One woman was also injured in the fight, and taken to the hospital.

Police arrested three people, including a juvenile, after the fight.
