Bridge named in Cynthiana for former UK Coach Joe B. Hall

CYNTHIANA, Ky. (WKYT) - A Big Blue legend received a big honor Friday night.

Former UK basketball coach Joe B. Hall now has a bridge named after him in his hometown.

During a ceremony, the new U.S. 27 bridge in Cynthiana was dedicated as the Joe B. Hall Bridge.

Coach Hall joined Harrison County officials and state officials for the ceremony.

Coach Hall told WKYT that he's grateful for the honor.

"You don't have words to describe things that happen in your hometown after being gone so many years," Hall said. "And to come back for an occasion like this, to be honored this way... it's overwhelming."

Coach Hall led the Cats for 13 seasons. His 1978 team won the national championship, and he coached in three Final Fours.
