Troopers: Police shoot man brandishing rifle

HODGENVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police say a central Kentucky man has been killed after being shot multiple times during a confrontation with local officers.

Trooper Jeffrey Gregory says Hodgenville police officers confronted the man while trying to serve arrest warrants Sunday morning. After finding the man, Gregory says, the confrontation ensued with one officer deploying a stun gun to no effect.

Gregory says the man grabbed a rifle and was then shot multiple times. The man died at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

Gregory says neither police officer was injured.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of family members.

The investigation is ongoing.
