Schools put on lockdown after inmate escapes in Breathitt County

Police need your help finding a man who escaped from custody in Breathitt County.

Officials tell us they had just arrested Brandon H. Nipper and booked him when he ran off.

We are told it all happened when the jailer tried to put Nipper back into the transport van to take him to jail.

Officials say Nipper was arrested on a receiving stolen property charge.

We are told schools in Jackson were put on lockdown as a precaution.

Officials tell us they are on their way to Breathitt County High School to make sure students get home safely.

We have a crew on the way to the scene.
