LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The mother of a Marine, who died in the line of duty, received a special gift Thursday night.
Mary Jacobson's son, William Perkins, was killed during the Vietnam War.
Perkins is the only combat photographer ever to receive the Medal of Honor.
On Thursday night, Marines presented Jacobson with a framed print of a painting her son did.
Jacobson said she appreciates the gift.
"I said he lived a lifetime in 20 years," Jacobson said of her son. "He had his 20th birthday in Vietnam, and he had done so much with his life. He didn't let a minute go by without doing something positive."
Don Flynn tells WKYT he wanted to do something for Jacobson after meeting her. He arranged for Fayette Gallery to frame the print for free.
