Principal cleared from Franklin County bourbon theft case

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says the Bardstown High School principal has been cleared from the theft of some rare bourbon from a distillery.

Chris Pickett had been named a person of interest, based on surveillance video at a liquor store.

Employees at the store claimed Pickett offered to sell a large amount of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon.

However, investigators now say Pickett had nothing to do with the theft.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says $26,000 worth of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon was stolen from Buffalo Trace Distillery earlier this year.

Deputies have not made any arrests, but they say their investigation points to this being an inside job.
