HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) Clinging to each other just feet away from the charred car where Josh Fryman was badly burned, his family combed the ground Monday morning, trying to find anything he left behind.

Janis Williams saw the car crash into a nearby field about 1:30 Friday morning near Hendricks Lane.

She says she can't get what happened out of her head.

"It was just a big blaze over there," she said.

The Harrison County Sheriff says the car was flying down 36 West going more than 100 miles an hour when it ran straight through a utility pole and flipped several times in a field, throwing both men from the car.

The Sheriff says the passenger, 21-year-old Josh Fryman died after being burned in the fire that started as the car flipped.

The driver, 22-year-old Dustin Darby is at UK Hospital in serious condition.

As the Fire Chief for Harrison County, Charles Carson normally rushes to accidents to save other people's children.

But Friday morning it was was one of his own, Fryman was his stepson.

Williams says with the small and close community in Cynthiana, it's a death felt by many.

"My children knew these boys. They stayed with my sister a lot too and they're all upset," she said.

Fryman's sister is also upset, she didn't want to talk on camera but says before they got into the car Friday morning both men were drinking.

She says when Fryman went to get behind the wheel she stopped him and asked to drive.

She says Darby then offered to drive and the two men took off in a Lexus.

According to the Sheriff, Darby's blood alcohol content was two times higher than the legal limit.

Williams says it's a difficult loss made even harder by the way it happened.

"It's horrific, it's so sad when they drink and drive like that," she said.

The Sheriff says if Darby survives, he will be most likely charged with manslaughter by a grand jury.
