LEWIS COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A death investigation is underway in Lewis County after Sheriff's deputies found a man dead inside his home.
The Lewis County Sheriff's office responded to a home on Meadowbrook Drive for a report that a man had been murdered. When they arrived on the scene they found that 46-year-old David Reed had been stabbed multiple times. Reed was pronounced dead on the scene by Lewis County coroner Tony Gaydos.
Officers located a suspect, 23-year-old John Garcia, near the scene of the crime and he was taken into custody without incident.
According to the deputies a preliminary investigation revealed that Garcia and Reed were acquaintances. They say they believe Garcia was visiting the residence when an altercation occurred between the two men, which led to Reed being fatally stabbed. Officers were able to locate the weapon on the scene.
The incident remains under investigation by the Lewis County Sheriff's office and no motive has been released at this time.
Garcia is lodged in the Lewis County Detention Center under a 1st Degree Murder charge.
