Man killed in Nicholasville crash identified

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - The Fayette County Coroner says 43-year-old James Hopkins died after a motorcycle crash in Nicholasville.

It happened around 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening.

Police say a fire truck had its sirens on and was heading to a crash. They say it pulled out into the intersection of US 27 and Elizabeth Street and Hopkins wasn't able to stop. They say he lost control and crashed, but wasn't wearing a helmet.

Traffic at U.S. 27 and Elizabeth was partially closed for about three hours on Saturday because of the crash.

A fund has been set up to help with Hopkins' funeral costs.
You can find the online fundraiser on GoFundMe.com. So far, more than $450 has been raised. The goal is set at $10,000.

Hopkins leaves behind two children.
