RAVENNA, Ky. (WKYT) - Several buildings had to be evacuated Sunday afternoon after a gas leak in Estill County.
Emergency Management officials say the gas leak occured on Main Street in Ravenna. They say they had to evacuate half a block on either side of the building as a precaution.
It all started at a local veterinary hospital in Estill County and crews evacuated about two dozen people, including families attending a church service nearby.
"It scared everybody pretty good. And some of them had kids downstairs and they were trying to get down there to get them and everything. It worked out alright," said Arthur Ballard, who was involved in the evacuation.
No cars were allowed on the roadways near the leak and residents were asked to avoid the area for several hours while they worked to repair it.
We're told everyone is safe and can return to the area.
