Kentucky Kingdom opens Saturday for first time since 2009

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - The wait is almost over.

On Saturday, a Louisville amusement park will open its doors for the first time in five years.

Kentucky Kingdom has undergone a more than $44 million renovation.

The park has been closed since 2009.

Kentucky Kingdom has 20 new rides and attractions, including a new roller coaster that's also the tallest ride in the park.

"It's been five years in the making," Kentucky Kingdom President and CEO Ed Hart said of the park. "The entire team is so excited about finally presenting the park to the public."

Kentucky Kingdom has 54 rides in all.

The park will open for visitors at 11 a.m. Saturday.
