FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes says she raised more than $4 million during the last three months.
The Kentucky secretary of state now has more than $6.2 million in cash available to spend as she tries to unseat Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
The $4 million haul is significantly more than the $2.7 million Grimes raised during the first three months of the year. Her fundraisers included an event in Washington with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and an event in Kentucky with U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.
In a news release, the Grimes campaign highlighted the more than 100,000 contributions of $50 or less they say is a result of the campaign's focus on middle class families.
McConnell has not released his fundraising numbers yet.
