Lexington Marathon gas station robbery suspect arrested

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police have arrested the man they believe robbed a Marathon gas station Saturday afternoon.

Police said around 4 p.m. Saturday, De'antye Perkins, 19, walked into the Marathon gas station on Centre Parkway, demanding money and saying he had a gun.

He reportedly threatened the clerk, then ran off after stealing beer and candy in addition to the money. Police say he walked into a home on York Street and robbed a person about three hours later.

Police tell us they found him 15 minutes after the robbery, about a block from the scene, and arrested him. They said he was carrying a loaded gun and heroin.

He will be in court for an arraignment Monday, on two first-degree robbery charges, drug trafficking and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
