WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have arrested a man accused of kidnapping and raping a 10-year-old girl.
Winchester police say the child was reported missing Tuesday, and was last seen with her neighbor, James Bullock.
The girl was playing with other children at the Quick-Shop Trailer Park around 6 p.m.
Police were called around 9:45 p.m.
Court documents show that when police went to Bullock's Banana Drive home, they found him hiding underneath his trailer. Police say he had the child with him, wrapped up in his arms.
"Our officers knocked. Identified themselves. He didn't respond. Based on the information we had. We felt the child was in there," says Captain James Hall with Winchester Police.
After being arrested, police say Bullock admitted to sexually abusing the child that day. Police say he also told the girl not to go anywhere when her dad was knocking on the door and told her to be quiet when police were searching for them.
Bullock is charged with kidnapping and rape. The girl was taken to Clark Regional Hospital to be check out.
Bullock has a criminal past, but no other sexual crimes.
He'll be in court Monday morning.
