Barn destroyed in overnight fire at Lexington farm

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Investigators are sifting through the rubble of a large barn that was destroyed in an overnight fire.

That fire started around 2:30 Monday morning at Garden Glenn Farm on Huffman Mill Pike in Lexington, near the Scott and Bourbon County lines. The fire could be seen for miles away, and firefighters had a hard time getting water to the scene because of the remote location.

When crews first arrived, they were worried someone could be in danger because a camper was parked next to the barn. Fortunately, no one was inside the camper or the barn.

The owner of the farm says some equipment, tools and hay were inside the barn that collapsed because of the fire. The owner also says the barn was recently renovated, and there was electricity running to the barn.

Firefighters were on scene for several hours after that fire started, putting out hot spots and looking for clues as to how the fire started.
