Community comes together to raise money for 7-year-old's funeral

The City of Manchester is raising money to help the family of a 7-year-old girl killed in Clay County last week.

A tractor-trailer accidentally hit Jasmine Collins while she was crossing the Hal Rogers Parkway. First responders have set up a fund to help the family pay for funeral expenses. They say they feel a special connection to the family.

"When I got there, I saw the little child laying there and the mother and it just broke our hearts. We, at the Manchester Police Department and fire department and EMS and everybody that was there and the whole community, it just touched us and broke our hearts. We was wanting to try to help the family," Jimmy Smith, with the Manchester Police Department said.

Smith says they've raised more than $5,500 so far. If you'd like to help, you can take donations ot the Manchester Police Department.
