Department of fallen Bardstown officer getting new K-9 units

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - The Bardstown Police Department is adding two new K-9 units to its staff on Tuesday.

Officer Jason Ellis and his dog, Figo, were the last K-9 unit on staff. Someone shot and killed Ellis at the end of his shift in May.No one has been arrested for that crime.

The police department retired Figo and gave him to Ellis' wife and two sons.

The ceremony to introduce the new officers is scheduled for three Tuesday afternoon, at the Bardstown Police Department.
