Dogs saved, home burned in Richmond fire

RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - Richmond firefighters were able to save two dogs trapped inside a burning building.

They say when they arrived on scene around 10:45 Monday morning, heavy smoke was billowing out of the home. Everyone inside made it out, but one man hurt his hand trying to go back in to save his two pets.

"I knew my dogs were still in there...that's what really matters," Christopher Cummings told WKYT.

Cummings said firefighters gave his dogs oxygen for a few minutes, and they are now doing okay. He did say they lost everything inside the home.
