Rowan County crash kills Jessamine County woman

ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT/WYMT) - A fatal accident shut down part of I-64 in Rowan County, between Olive Hill and Morehead, for four hours Saturday afternoon.

The Rowan County Coroner tells us 47-year-old Betty Jean Mullins of Jessamine County was pronounced dead on the scene.

Kentucky State Police say Mullins lost control of her vehicle while driving in the eastbound lane. They say she went across the median into the westbound lane striking the trailer of a semi and was hit by a couple in a SUV.

The people in the SUV were airlifted to UK Hospital.

The crash forced police to shut down the interstate for nearly four hours while they investigated. I-64 has since re-opened.
