ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A firefighter had to be treated after fighting a fire at a Central Kentucky home.

The fire started around midnight Wednesday morning, on Doe Creek Road, south of Ravenna in Estill County.

The home was a total loss.

Fire officials say one of their firefighters collapsed from heat exhaustion and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He was treated for dehydration.

The homeowners were on vacation in Gatlinburg.

"There's no way to express what you are feeling at the time," said homeowner James Coffey.

An arson investigator was called to the scene. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The Coffey family will rely on friends and family for help.

"It takes things like this to appreciate what you really have," said Coffey.

Their home was insured. They didn't have enough coverage for their possessions lost in the fire.
