Former Ky. sheriff pleads guilty, sentenced

CORBIN, Ky. (AP) - A former Kentucky sheriff has pleaded guilty in state court to charges including abuse of public trust and tampering with evidence.

The Times-Tribune reports former Whitley County Sheriff Lawrence Hodge entered 21 guilty pleas in Circuit Court a week before his trial was to begin.

Hodge is already serving time on federal charges after pleading guilty to conspiracies to commit extortion, distribute drugs and launder money.

After Hodge entered the pleas last week, Judge David A. Tapp sentenced him to 17 years, to be served concurrently with his federal sentence.
