Grand jury indicts man in Rockcastle Co. quarry beating

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT/WYMT) - The case against a man, charged in a beating that left the victim with critical injuries, is moving forward.

A grand jury indicted Jason Gambrell on Friday. He's charged with attempted murder and first degree robbery.

The charges stem from the beating of 23 year old Derek Kissee. Someone found Kissee badly beaten in rock quarry in Rockcastle County, back in July.

Kissee is still recovering from serious head injuries. Both he and Gambrell are from Pulaski County.

Police say Kissee was robbed of $700 and buried in a makeshift grave at the old limestone quarry.

Bond was set at $1 million. Court officials say Gambrell will be arraigned in Rockcastle Circuit Court 10 am August 22nd.
