Gunshot victim drives to Lexington hospital for help

Lexington Police were called to a hospital for a report of a gunshot victim.

Officials at St. Joseph East, on Blazer Parkway, alerted police after a man showed up there with a gunshot wound around 3:30 Thursday morning.

Officers spoke with the man. He says he was sitting in a parking lot on Richmond Road, near the Waffle House, when a black man wearing a bandanna opened his car door. The victim told police that he did not know the man. When the stranger pulled out a gun, the victim says he attempted to drive off. The man fired a shot, grazing the victim.

The man was able to drive himself to a hospital for treatment. We're told his injuries are not life threatening.

Police say they are not sure of a motive in the case at this time.
