LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A serious thunderstorm rolled through Central Kentucky on Tuesday night and into early Wednesday morning, leaving behind it a string of damage across Lexington.

Several homes on Rosemill Drive, near Southland and Clays Mill, had a close call with a massive tree that was felled by the storm.

WKYT's Sean Evans investigated the scene and found that one woman's property didn't make it out unharmed.

Ann Morgan says she's lived in the home on Rosemill Drive for decades. She told Sean Evans that back in the 1950s, trees that were no taller than a foot were sold for a dollar and planted all along the street. Now, those trees are fully grown, and one was knocked over by the serious storm.

Ann Morgan and her neighbors got a better look at the extent of the damage once there was enough daylight. The tree that was once standing in front of her neighbor's home now lay across her lawn, coming to rest just short of the porch of her home.

She says there is some damage to the porch roof and some things under it, but adds that nothing inside the home was damaged. She and her neighbors told Sean Evans how lucky they all were that the damage wasn't worse. Morgan described the sound the decades-old tree made as it came crashing down.

"I thought it was thunder," Morgan said. "Because it went 'boom,' like that. And I thought, 'Boy that was a good one.' I did, that's exactly what I said."

Underneath the mess of the fallen tree's branches is Ann Morgan's car, but she says it doesn't appear to have suffered any major damage.

The Lexington Fire Department says they didn't receive any other reports of serious damage from last night's storm.
