LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Lottery hopefuls are hoping Santa will pull through in a big, big way this Christmas.
Friday the 13th was unlucky for lottery hopefuls last week.
No winner means Tuesday’s Mega Millions is up to the fourth-largest jackpot in lottery history.
"The largest we've ever had was $656 million on a Mega Millions Jackpot several years ago. But, based on the way this jackpot has rolled, I think we're going to exceed by Friday if it rolled," said Chip Polston, V.P. of Communications with the Kentucky Lottery.
Whether you opt for a quick pick or chose the numbers yourself, the potential payout is the same for everyone.
Jim Allen, of Lexington, tried his luck.
We asked him how he’d spend his winnings.
"Take care of my family, do some charity work and maybe, buy a place in Florida where I can go in the winter some,” said Allen.
But, before you get too excited consider your odds of actually winning.
"Keep it in perspective," said Polston. “The odds are very slim.”
You have until 9:45 Tuesday night to get your ticket.
The drawing is at 11 p.m. eastern.
If no one wins Tuesday or Friday's drawing, the jackpot could reach a billion dollars by Christmas Eve.
