Ky county to decide on full-day kindergarten

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - A central Kentucky county is set decide whether to begin full-day kindergarten in the fall of 2014.

The Richmond Register reported that an Oct. 10 vote has been set before the Madison County School Board.

Board voted Sept. 9 to set property tax rates calculated to increase revenue from existing property by 4 percent with the understanding the money would be used to fund full-day kindergarten.

Superintendent Elmer Thomas is on board with the concept of all-day classes for kindergarten.
