BROOKLYN, NY Former Kentucky forward Julius Randle was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the seventh overall selection in the 2014 NBA Draft. Randle will join former Wildcat guard Jodie Meeks. The Lakers missed the playoffs this past season going 27-55. Randle becomes the 14th player, during the John Calipari era, to be taken in the NBA Draft first round. During his lone season in a Kentucky uniform, Randle averaged a double-double with 15 points and 10.4 rebounds a game. Randle was a first team ALL-SEC selection earning SEC Freshman of the Year honors becoming the fifth consecutive Wildcat to earn that honor. The Dallas native was the first player since Anthony Davis to finish the season averaging a double-double. In the last four years, Coach Cal has had eight players selected in the top 10, nine in the lottery and, at the time of Randle's selection, 14 in the first round.
