LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Tis’ the season of giving and tis’ the season of buying. On Tuesday, last minute shoppers filled the stores in Lexington as they worked to buy those last items to place under the Christmas tree.
Tuesday marked the last mad dash for shoppers to cross presents off their list as the clock continued ticking down to Christmas.
Some say the final holiday shopping blitz wasn't as frantic as they expected.
Employees at Fayette Mall say even though there was a steady stream of shoppers throughout the day, this year's Christmas Eve shopping is mild compared to year's past.
"I'm shopping for my little boy and my mom," says Kristan Elam, a last-minute shopper.
"Mainly nieces and nephews. Kind of finishing up," says Ron Walker, another last-minute shopper.
The Fayette Mall has also been busy with holiday shoppers. It opened at 6:00 Tuesday morning and will stay open until 6:00 p.m.
Some shoppers say the last-minute wait has worked out well for them, but others not so much.
"It's a good time because there are very few people out, you avoid the crowds and you can see if there are any last minute sales," says Walker.
"Waiting longer has been worse because everything that I had planned on getting is either not there and I have to wait for it or order it," Elam says.
