Lexington Police respond to multiple crashes overnight

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - It rained a little in the early morning hours of Thursday, but it wasn't rain that led to several crashes in Lexington. In at least two cases, Lexington Police tell WKYT that the drivers fell asleep.

A man told police he dozed off, causing him to crash his SUV into a tree. It happened around 1:45 Thursday morning on Todds Road, near North Cleveland. He was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Just 15 minutes later, a driver crashed into a pole on Leestown Road. The driver told police she fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into the pole. The woman's car flipped. She and her passenger were taken to UK Hospital as a precaution.

Police think alcohol may have been a factor in a crash on Alexandria Drive. A car crashed into a tree, trapping the man's leg beneath the gas pedal. The man had a head injury and was rushed to UK Hospital.
