Lexington police search for armed robber

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - They were some scary moments for customers and the clerks inside a Speedway in Lexington Saturday morning. Police say a man went inside, showed the clerks his gun, and robbed them. He got away with all their cash, but not before store surveillance caught him on camera.

Lexington Police say around 7:30 Saturday morning, a man walked into the Speedway on Paris Pike and spent a couple minutes inside the store, looking around, before he approached a clerk.

"He displayed a note, showed he had a hand gun, and fled the area on foot with cash. There were some other customers in the store at the time. Nobody was injured," noted Lexington Police Lieutenant Mark Brand.

Because the man wasn't wearing a mask or hiding his face, clerks were able to give police a pretty good description.

"He was wearing a black warm-up sweat suit, a gray knit hat, in his late 30's, about 5'8"."

Police released video in the hopes someone recognizes him, and can help them make an arrest.
