Woman being checked out by officials after Lexington standoff

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A woman is being checked out by Lexington fire officials after a nearly four-hour long standoff in Lexington.

Lansdowne Elementary was put on heightened alert, due to the nearby scene. Children were not allowed outside. Parents can pick up their children by accessing the school through Redding Road. No students that normally walk home were allowed to leave, unless someone picked them up in a car. Southern Elementary also held some walkers, as well.

Emergency units arrived to an apartment complex around noon, where a woman had barricaded herself. At least one shot was been fired. There's no word on injuries.

Lansdowne Road was shut down between Reynolds Road and Redding Road, due to the scene.
