Man arrested with 17 counterfiet credit cards

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is in jail after police say he was using counterfeit credit cards to purchase gift cards.

Investigators say Jorge Araujo-Paz was arrested Wednesday night at the Kroger on Tate's Creek Road.

According to Araujo-Paz's arrest citation, he was carrying 17 re-encoded credit cards.

Police used a credit card reader and were able to determine that all of the cards were altered.

He is charged with possession of a forged instrument, illegally making cr3edit cards, and trafficking financial information.
