Man stabbed at Fourth of July party at Lexington home

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Neighbors say the area is typically safe, so they were surprised to hear that a man was stabbed at a home just a few doors down.

"Well it's alarming because there's been minor things but never anything like I stabbing, that I know of," one neighbor told WKYT.

Neighbors say parties at one particular home on Clover Valley Drive are something they're used to seeing every weekend, but this Fourth of July party was much bigger than usual.

"There was a bunch of cars lined up and down the street. Probably 50 or so kids. Some sort of party with a lot of people coming and going. I would say the 18 to 22, 23 range, all younger."

Police say the homeowners tried to get some people out of the crowded home, including one man who apparently tried to crash the party. Some of the people started fighting and someone ended up stabbing the man, who was not invited, twice in his stomach.

Police tell us the man who was stabbed was taken to UK Hospital where he is expected to recover.

Police describe the suspect as a 19-year-old black man who's 6'3" with a thin build.
