LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- The winner of the Miss Kentucky quality of life award was announced Thursday.
The quality of life award is given to the contestant who shows dedication to her platform and community service.
Ramsey Carpenter was honored with the award Thursday afternoon.
Carpenter was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis four years ago.
She says her goal is to raise awareness for her disease.
"I was diagnosed with MS on August 15, 2010, but I was able to live symptom-free after I began rehabilitation and from that moment on I've been able to be a voice of reason and sense of encouragement for others that have MS," said Ramsey Carpenter.
Five women were in the running for the award.
