Morehead favors fairness ordinance

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) - Officials in the eastern Kentucky city of Morehead have preliminarily approved an anti-discrimination proposal.

The Independent of Ashland reports Morehead City Council members passed a first reading of the measure on Monday that prohibits housing, employment and public accommodation discrimination based on sexual orientation.

The vote came after three people in the crowd, including Morehead State University President Wayne Andrews, voiced support for the ordinance.

A final vote will be taken next month. If approved, Morehead would become the sixth city in Kentucky to adopt such a measure.
