N.C. educator named next Georgetown College president

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - Georgetown College named Dr. Michael Dwaine Greene as its 24th president Monday afternoon.

Dr. Greene is currently vice president for academic affairs and provost at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.

He is a 1979 graduate of Campbell University with a bachelor of arts in religion. He received his master of arts in new testament from Wake Forest University in 1982 and his Ph.D. in New Testament and early Christianity in 1987 from the University of Virginia. He has been vice president and provost at Campbell since 2001.

During his career, he has been a religion professor, department chair, provost/dean of faculty, and, for a time, served as an acting president.

Dr. Greene replaces William H. Crouch, Jr., who stepped down after 22 years.
