Thieves targeting unlocked cars in Boyle County

DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Danville police say thieves have targeted at least four different subdivisions including Colonial Heights,
Streamland and Brookcove.

The Boyle County Sheriff’s office says they’ve also had several complaints.

In most of the cases the thieves have simply opened unlocked cars and taken whatever is in plain sight.

Police say loose change has been the usual target but in some cases the culprits have taken computers, tools, and chain saws.

“Keep doors locked and notify police of suspicious person,” Chief Tony Gray said.

Boyle County Sheriff Marty Elliott says most of their cases occurred in the Harmon Heights area in which change, tools, chain saws, and other small items were taken.

“The break-ins occurred between 2 a.m. and day break,” Elliott said.”Remember, the sheriff’s office offers a cash reward for the recovery of and stolen property,” he said.

Anyone noticing suspicious persons or activity should call Danville police at 859-238-1220 or the sheriff’s office at 238-1223.
