WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - Fire officials are looking into what caused a fire that destroyed a Winchester home.
It was around midnight on Tuesday when fire crews first got the report of a house fire. When they arrived at the home on Winn Avenue, it was engulfed in flames. At that point, firefighters focused on containing the fire to keep it from spreading to the neighboring homes, some of which are extremely close.
A battalion chief with the Winchester Fire Department tells WKYT that this fire is considered suspicious in nature because there were no utilities running to the building.
This isn't the first time this building has caught fire. More than eight years ago, on St. Patrick's Day in 2005, there was a fire in the second floor. Firefighters at the scene tell us the building has been unoccupied since.
