LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are searching for a shooting suspect, after an early morning drive-by sent one person to the hospital.
The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning, outside of Riptide on the River, a popular restaurant and bar on the border of Fayette and Madison Counties.
Police say the victim was walking to his car when someone drove by and fired nearly a dozen shots. One of those shots hit the victim in his leg. He was taken to UK Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The staff at Riptide did tell police that there were no problems at the bar prior to the shooting.
"Sometimes these things spur from having some type of argument at the club or a group getting kicked out. Management of the club, security of the club, stated they had no problems with anyone and there was nothing that gave them warning that this was about to occur," says Lt. Eddie Hart, Lexington Police.
At this time, police say they do not have a description of the shooter or the car described in the crime.
