Perry County deputy jailers in custody

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) -- We've learned two deputy jailers charged in the death of an eastern Kentucky jail are now in jail themselves.

Police say Damon Hickman and William Howell turned themselves in to State Police Tuesday. They're now at the Kentucky River Regional Jail, where they worked.

The Perry County grand jury indicted them on manslaughter charges.

Last month, investigators say inmate Larry Trent died after being found unresponsive in his cell.

Investigators think Trent died after a jail beating.
