GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Some brave fundraisers will take a leap into chilly Kentucky Lake in a couple of weeks to raise money for Special Olympics.
Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park in western Kentucky is one of six sites for the event in Kentucky, including Bellevue, Owensboro, Lake Cumberland, Lexington and Louisville. Details are available at http://kentuckyplunge.com .
The Kentucky Dam Village event is set for Feb. 15, Bellevue will be this Saturday, Owensboro and Lexington are Feb. 8, Lake Cumberland is Feb. 22 and Louisville is March 1.
Participants in the Polar Plunge gather sponsors to raise money for the Special Olympics. This is the 16th year for the event in Kentucky, raising nearly $6 million for Special Olympics Kentucky programs in that time.
