LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are looking the person responsible for an overnight shooting in Lexington.
It happened around 11:30 Wednesday night on Bryan Avenue at Devonia, near Castlewood Park.
The victim told police that he was sitting in bed in his upstairs apartment when he heard gunshots.
Police say someone fired at least eight times through his door. One of the bullets hit the man in the back.
Neighbors tell WKYT he's been a target in another recent shooting on the street.
Some we spoke to in the neighborhood blame the violence on drug activity. Whatever the case may be, Todd Mayle is worried.
He says his sister was sleeping just a few feet below where the bullets hit the home.
"She said six of them was in that bannister right above us, and she was laying right there. I think she was more scared that they was that close...and felt lucky that they didn't go lower. Last night she said that she wanted to move," said Mayle.
The man was taken to UK Hospital, we're told his condition was not life-threatening. Police tell us he was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
Police say they do not have a description of the shooter.
