LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is in jail after police say he fired shots through the floor of his own home, nearly hitting a relative downstairs.
It happened around 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning on Dover Road, but the suspect wasn't arrested until Thursday night.
Police say Nathan Smith fired two shots from a 9mm handgun into the floor of his upstairs bedroom.
The shots went into a downstairs room, mere feet from where one of the suspect's family members was sleeping.
Investigators believe Smith physically hit the relative as well, causing her minor injuries.
Smith is being charged with 1st degree wanton endangerment and 4th degree domestic assault.
He is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment Friday.
