Police believe three robberies in two counties are connected

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police believe they have caught up with the men behind at least three overnight robberies in two Kentucky counties.

The first happened around 1:30 Thursday morning on 5th Street at Martin Luther King Boulevard in Lexington. Police say a man was in his car, when two men pulled up in a silver Mustang. One of those men had a gun. Police say he punched the man in the face and demanded money. The victim tried to follow the suspects when they left, but he ended up losing them.

Around 3:00 Thursday morning, police in Versailles received a report of a similar situation. Police say two young men, in a silver Mustang, held a woman up at gunpoint. An hour later, two men in a silver mustang robbed a man at gunpoint at Village Drive and Davenport in Lexington. The victim told police he had just returned home and was getting out of his car when the robbers approached and took his wallet.

Just after five on Thursday morning, Lexington Police pulled over a silver Mustang, matching the description of a getaway car used in the string of robberies, on Loudon Avenue. Officers searched the car and went through a red bag that they found inside it.

Two men have been taken into custody, after tips from victims and the public to Lexington Police. Robert Mulder and Arion Harmon are both in custody. We're told they are facing drugs and weapons charges.
