LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are currently investigating after someone shot a man at a Lexington apartment complex.

Police were called to the scene around 8:30 a.m. Friday on Danielle Lane after a call came in that a man had been shot.

Family say the victim is Joseph Cobb.

"He's smart, he makes everybody laugh. He works. He's just a good guy. I just don't understand why people would do something like this. It's crazy. There's kids that live over here. I just hope he's okay," said niece Tyjeer Fishback, "they're just praying right now that he survives. That's all we really care about right now, that he survives."

Fishback says Cobb is still in critical condition at UK Hospital.

Police say that a odor inside the home led them to call Hazmat to the scene as a precaution. They later determined the odor was pepper spray.

They have not arrested anyone for the shooting at this time, although family are certain they know who shot him.

"He knows we know that it was him. It would be stupid if he comes back. Everybody knows who did it," noted Fishback.
